Football Wins 5th Straight MVC Gray Division Championship
The Nighthawks won their 5th straight MVC Gray Division Championship after a 51-20 win over Clark Montessori on Friday. Thomas Huckleby '28 had a huge game, accounting for four touchdowns and 169 total yards. He scored the first two to put the Nighthawks up by 14, midway through the second quarter. Clark Montessori found the end zone shortly after to cut the Nighthawks lead. Leon Hall '27 brought in a nine-yard pass from Levi Guttman '27 before the half.
The second half opened the same way the first half did, with a Huckleby touchdown. Clark Montessori scored again but CCDS still had the 29-14 lead. The Nighthawks had two more touchdowns from Nathan Kellenberger '29 and Huckleby before Clark Montessori scored again late in the fourth quarter. Brandon Proffitt '26 sealed the deal with a 49-yard touchdown run to put the Nighthawks up by 31. With the win over Clark, CCDS clinched the MVC Gray Division title outright and finished the regular season 9-1! As the #3 seed in the OHSAA Region 28 Playoffs, CCDS earned a bye for week one of the playoffs. They will host the winner of Cedarville vs. Portsmouth Notre Dame at 7:00 p.m. on November 7 at Brian J. Bortz Family Stadium.
