It was an unusually quiet first half for the Nighthawks as they outscored the Indians 12-0. CCDS got on the board first when Levi Guttman '27 found a gap and carried it 39 yards into the endzone. The Indians made several marches down the field, but the Nighthawks defense stepped up, leaving Norwood scoreless in the first half. The second touchdown came from Guttman after CCDS drove down the field, putting them at the 3-yard line. Guttman ran it in to put the Nighthawks up by 12, the extra point missing just right.
The Nighthawks offense took off in the second half. CCDS received the ball to open the third quarter and found the endzone not long after. Guttman connected with Brandon Proffitt '26 to extend the Nighthawks lead. Leon Hall '27 drilled his first extra point of the game to put CCDS up 19-0. On the following Indians drive, Nathan Kellenberger '29 recovered a fumble to give CCDS the ball back. Guttman responded with a deep ball to Hall for a 73-yard touchdown to increase the lead to 26. After a three and out and punt from Norwood, Guttman found Proffitt again for a 30-yard touchdown pass to put the Nighthawks up by 33.
Norwood made a promising drive, ending up on the 5-yard line. The Nighthawks defense stepped up again thanks to a tackle for loss by Proffitt, putting the Indians at the 11-yard line. On third down, Leon Hall came up with the interception in the Indians endzone to give CCDS the ball back. The Nighthawks offense ran the clock down to finalize the 33-0 win. Huge game from both sides of the ball.
Come cheer on the Nighthawks next Friday (10/18) as they host North College Hill to determine the MVC Gray Division Champion and to celebrate our football and cheer seniors! Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. at Brian J. Bortz Family Stadium on the campus of Cincinnati Country Day School.
