Nighthawks Get the Win on Senior Night
It was a much-anticipated game on Friday night between the Nighthawks and the North College Hill Trojans. Both teams sat at 7-1, tied for first place in the MVC Gray Division. The Nighthawks had a dominant first half, putting up 34 points to North College Hills 6.
The Trojans started with the ball, working their way down the field but were stopped at the 3rd yard line by the Nighthawks defense. The first touchdown of the night came from Thomas Huckleby '28 on a slant pass from Levi Guttman '27. The Nighthawks got the ball back after a Trojan drive was stopped by an interception from Nathan Kellenberger '29. Shortly after, Levi Guttman found Michael Hendrix '26 in the end zone. North College Hill had a huge return off the kickoff, going down at the CCDS 15-yard line. The Nighthawk defense didn't let up and forced another Trojan turnover on downs in the red zone. The offense stormed down the field and Leon Hall '27 brought in a 36-yard pass from Guttman for another Nighthawk touchdown. On the next Trojan possession, Gabe Odeh '29 came up with a huge fumble recovery, giving the Nighthawks another opportunity to score. The Trojans found the end zone with 4:11 remaining in the second quarter, chipping away at the Nighthawks lead. But, CCDS added two more touchdowns (Brandon Proffitt '26 and Huckleby) before the end of the half to take the 34-6 lead going into halftime.
The second half was much quieter for the Nighthawks as they aimed to chip away at the clock and run away with their lead. Huckleby and Hendrix were the two scorers of the second half. North College Hill added one more touchdown late in the fourth quarter but the Nighthawks dominant first half led the team to a 46-14 victory.
The Nighthawks will face Clark Montessori on Friday, October 24 for their last game of the regular season. They face the Cougars at 6:30 p.m. at Norwood High School. Please see here for the bag policy. To purchase tickets click here.
