Boys Soccer Wins Big Over #13 Lockland to Advance in OHSAA Tournament
Boys soccer hosted #13 Lockland at home on Saturday for the District Quarterfinal game in the OHSAA Tournament. It was a bit of a slow start in the first half for the Nighthawks compared to their second half performance, but CCDS cruised past Lockland, scoring eight total goals to put the mercy rule into effect in the final minutes of the game.
Trey Blum '26 got the Nighthawks offense started, scoring the first goal of the game with 22:41 remaining in the first half. Morris Helmantel '26 added another before the half ended. The beginning of the second half was a quite one, neither teams scoring until 16 minutes left in the game when Matthew Wood '27 found his first goal of the season. From there, the offense started to cruise. Five more Nighthawks scored: Morris Helmantel, Paxton Fleisher '29, and Ryan Pavlisko '28 scored three goals.
The Nighthawks will face #2 Seven Hills at Seven Hills on Tuesday, October 21 at 7:00 p.m
